I have no issue with not liking Linux, to each their own, but the major point of the article that I saw was, I have a habit of tweaking my machine because I really enjoy doing that and it's interfering with my professional goals, so to set myself up for success, I put away the distraction and got a machine that doesn't allow/encourage me to do that, which I think is an excellent piece of advice.
I use a macbook for work because that's what my company issued me but for my personal use I have a Linux machine with POP_OS! I have a nice color officejet printer, a good but not cutting edge graphics card, etc., and the only issues I had were when I wanted to install "extras" on my graphics driver so I could use my GPU for some computing tasks.
Linux is definitely not for everyone, but these days, unless you enjoy tweaking your system or you have specific needs for specific hardware, you really shouldn't have an issue.
I spend more time tweaking my macbook than I do my personal Linux box.
